First thing, Marc is fine, a little shaken up sinc he's never been in an accident but not hurt.
Got to the show Wed before the doors open to the public and walked the floor abit. Thursday came and was able to meet briefly with Wecklsmechanic, nice guy that John!
New items in no order:
Yamaha, the Jimmy Chamberlin snare is basically a Ludwig Acrolite with Yamaha lugs, very nice, they have temporarily discontinued the weckl aluminum drum since Dave did not approve of the seamed shell, they have made a color change to the 2 maple Weckl drums, it's now a black color with the Nouveau lugs. A new Mike Bordin sig drum was added too, that's about it other then they had Elvin Jones kit on display inlcuding blood on the drum heads from when Elvin cut himself during a gig.
DW: what can be said, great finishes inlcuding a new exotic Birch for Pacific drums.
The new Bow pedal was on display in both a single, double AND a practice pedal for getting adjusted to the feel, Gatzen told me it will come out under the Pacific moniker for the new design would get a better response from the public under that name verses the DW.
I saw a buzz around Pro-Mark, for the first time they had a plasma screen setup and were showing videos from artists and manufacturing, many people stopped to see 1 Todd Sucherman in action.....hmmm, how did they get the dvd? [img]wink.gif[/img]
Dunnett as usually had many fine looking drums as did Craviotto and CnC.
New bass drum claws were the buzz at Taye while Pat Petrillo did little demos on the drums.
Plenty of talk on the Sabian vault brass, nice stuff.
Zildjian had a great line up of new items as well as a great table Friday and Saturday of artists.
The Zildjian event honoring Roy Haynes, Louie and Earl Palmer was awesome, the night began witt the Peter Erskine trio of Dave Carpenter and Bob Shepard, then came some really nice tributes and video montages of each man, Steve Gadd and Peter gave really nice heartfelt words. Roy Haynes does NOT look 80..........
HOD guys, Well Thursday started with Marc, myself and Chris Brady meeting up at Aquarian, then along comes Robertoplend, MAN is this guy kewl.........
Friday I met up with Danny and got him a badge, we walked around here and there and hooked up with Andy V, whom then took us to get our ears checked, Andy, what a pleasure it was to finally meet with you, wish it had been longer but what a nice guy and from what I hear an excellent player, DaChuch, great guy as well, then met Shedder, Wecklsmechanic and a few others that names are escaping. Later that night we headed to Sabian live, Roy Burns and Vic Firth were recieving lifetime acheivement awards, nice roasting from Bob Zildjian, very funny stuff....
So, we are sitting there before the event started and some guys to the right of me ask my name or something and turns to be Louie Palmer, WOW........what agreat guy he is and his friend Ben and these guys have been taking the bus everywhere including down from LA to Anaheim where they were staying, brave boys indeed.
Of course I ran into many drummers I know including Todd on Friday, all in all, it was a great time only cut short on the hangtime with many of the guys including Pocket whom I only was able to hang with a few short minutes, I was at Pro-Mark introducing Louie to the guys and were asked to take some promo pix and then had to run so my apologies go to Pocket for not being able to hang much, it's not that I did want to.
New DVDs out, The Bissonette DVD with transcriptions done by Marc Atkinson comes out in the next month, funny story, Marc and I were at the Hal Leonard/Hudson booth, a guy looking at DVDs starts asking me questions about the Bissonette DVD, I say yeah it's new but the damn thing has been held up by the dude doing the transcriptions, who knows when it will come........I look at Marc and we both start to laugh, the guy never of course got the joke, but I did tell him that actually the disc would be out in a month.
Warner has rereleased the 2 early Steve Sith DVDs WITH tons of bonus footage.
They alos have a new DVD featuring Jeff Ocheltree, I got a copy and will watch it later and give a review, this should be interesting.
I am sure to be missing many things, so if i remember them will post.
Forgot my digital cam so i have NO pix.

I'm curious about the SSmith re-release. Idealy it should one DVD but I don't think they'll do that (?)

great to meet and hang witcha, randy. good times. i'm so glad that marc is o.k. that would've been a really sad ending to such an awesome weekend. whew!
i was actually kinda dissappointed with the yamaha booth. everything about it smelled corporate. they were really pushing their oak customs and their stage absolutes. unfortunately, i didn't see their new flagship oak customs in gloss lacquer finish. i think their badges also look terrible. the new version of the weckl snare was a dissapointment in that it was like a wrap finish rather than it's predecessor's transparent black lacquer finish. as randy mentioned to me, the older weckl models are going to be a collectors item, so hold on to 'em!!

I checked warnerbros percussion site and it wasnt there
well it looks as if it's not actually available yet, i thought it was already out siince they had tons of copies at NAMM. Contact your local store or call Warner sales direct.
Why no report on the New Roland Vdrums the TD-12S which uses the sound engine of the TD-20, but the kit is only $3700.00 or there abouts for a mesh head kit?
Anyone see or hear them?
